Compulsary Basic Training (CBT)
The CBT course involves five elements; introduction, practical on-site training, practical on-site riding, practical on-road training and practical on-road riding.
These elements are learnt throughout the CBT training day and assuming you complete these elements to the standard accepted by the training company, you’ll be awarded a certificate of completion (DL 196). Remember that the CBT is just training and not an actual test. However, it is worth doing some prep work such as leaning the Highway Code and leaning how a bike operates prior to your CBT - you can never have too much knowledge.
Most motorcycle training companies offer the loan of equipment such as helmets and gloves but you should make sure you have a good protective coat and strong protective boots. Bearing in mind it is actually quite hard to fail the CBT, you might even consider buying the right equipment prior to your training because you’ll need it as soon as you buy your bike and at least that way, you’re properly protected when you train.
